Just after I posted about my first WW meeting, I popped over to their website to start setting up my account, etc. There was an article regarding 10% goals. There was a chart that helped you associate the weight you want to lose to an object... it made my jaw drop!!!

I have been at work 5 minutes and I get this email from Kara...
I just checked out your new blog posting (surely you will have seen the comment I just posted) and am SOOOO PROUD of you! That took tons of cajones!
So, catch me up. Have you signed up for WW yet? How was spin (yesterday?)? Can you give me your planned work out schedule (again) so I can help you and give you encouragement throughout the weeks?
You know, I was thinking about one of the huge benefits of boot camp, other than the obvious. So many of the things you'll be doing there won't require equipment and you'll be able to do them at home as well.
Well, lets start with breakfast. Did you get a healthy start to your day. I just finished my half cup of cottage cheese (great morning protein source), am sipping my green tea and about to have a pumpkin spice flax granola bar. In an hour or so, I'll have my boiled egg and then will be preparing my usual salad for lunch. It's extra special this week since I'm enjoying veggies bought at the farmers market!

The crazy days of summer...
This is the first weekend since May 3rd that we actually don't have ANYTHING to do!! Yes, I said MAY... whew! This summer we have just been going a mile a minute. It has all been fun stuff with friends and family, various different trips and just... life.
So far, this is what our summer weekends have included:

It makes my head spin thinking we have done all of that this summer and its only mid-July!! I feel so behind on my day-to-day life. While the house may appear on the surface to be clean... there are things shoved under the bed, in the closets and cabinets that need to be dealt with. Oh yeah and there is the small matter of finding my hamper underneath all the clothes I have neglected. (I have been getting by with loads for "necessities only" for a while now!!)
I like to think all of these things will get done but somehow going to a movie (any of the summer blockbusters we have been too busy to see... "Hancock", "Indiana Jones", "Dark Knight" or "Wall E"...) or just vegging out on the couch sound more appealing.
Whatever your weekend entails, I hope its all you want it to be... whether that's a road trip or a nap on the couch!!

Cheyenne vs. The Water...
While we visited my parents for the 4th of July weekend, Cheyenne stayed with our friend Lisa. She has a Pitt Bull named Harley that is Cheyenne's BFF or boyfriend... we aren't exactly sure. The love to play and chase each other, so we know Cheyenne is happy when she gets to have a sleep-over at Lisa's.
Lisa took them to Barton Springs for a fun day of cool water and splashing around with other dogs and people. Jason and I haven't ever taken Cheyenne around water before, so we weren't sure how she would do. Lisa took some great pictures of Cheyenne checking things out.
She was apparently very apprehensive at first... she would only get her feet wet. Lisa and her friends went to the other side of the water and Lisa said Chey spent a lot of time pacing around the water's edge trying to find a "dry route" to them!
Eventually Lisa put Cheyenne's leash on her and lead her out in the water and she was totally fine! She just needed a little encouragement. Lisa said, however, that Chey wouldn't go out into the water voluntarily unless they were in there! She did have fun with the other dogs though.
We will definitely take her out there more often. I think she would really like it! Tucker, on the other hand, would just be more interested in sniffing all the smells.

Welcome Baby Arshad!!
Congratulations to my friend Dee Dee... a new Mom!! Her and her husband, Steve welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Ava, into the world. She was right on time arriving at 10:25PM on July 7th.
Dee Dee is a good friend of mine that I worked with at Samsung. Days before I left Samsung, so did she! She moved to NYC to join her new husband Steve. Within weeks they were happily pregnant! Dee Dee had a shower in Austin this past April and it was SO great to see her cute and pregnant!

Thank you XM Satellite Radio...
The rest of our Mississippi trip was nice. We all really enjoyed "Get Smart" (if you are a Steve Carrell fan- its a must see). Then Jason and I treated my parents to a super yummy feast at Outback as an early birthday dinner for my Mom. Mom and I even splurged and added lobster tails to our steaks. YUM! It was a short trip, but worth it to see the family.
We arrived safely back in Austin yesterday evening. Our drive was made more enjoyable by Mr. Casey Kasem thanks to XM Radio! We listened to the 80's channel for pretty much the entire drive both ways. On the weekends they replay American Top 40 Countdowns from the 80's. It is awesome. Well, this particular one was the "Top 40 Most Influential Artist in the Rock Era" as voted on my DJ's around the world. I honestly don't remember the last time I listened to ALL 4 hours of an AT40 Countdown but this one was SO interesting!! Even though we knew that the top 2 would be Elvis and The Beatles from the start, we still had a great time guessing who the other 38 artists would be and where they would fall on the countdown. We heard everything from Chuck Berry, Pink Floyd and Bruce Springsteen to Lionel Richie, Eric Clapton and Buddy Holly. It was fun!
We were pretty tired and glad to be home. We picked up Tucker on our way home (thank you Amy S for watching him) and we were welcomed by our sweet kitties at home. Cheyenne, on the other hand, was out painting the town with her BFF Harley and his owner Lisa J. They went swimming at the dog park and hung out at Freddie's a cool S. Congress restaurant/live music place that is dog-friendly. Lisa brought her home around 10pm and she was so happy. Thank you so much to our dog-sitters, Amy & Lisa and cat-sitter, Liz!
Today is a crazy day at work. I write this as I take a lunch break at my desk. I am just trying to crank out as much stuff and leave my desk as empty as possible. I will be out Tuesday and Wednesday for Jason's knee surgery.
Tonight we will eat a good dinner (since he can't eat anything after midnight) and take it easy. ("The Bachelorette" Finale is on- so I will be glued to the TV for that!!)
They have moved his surgery time up to 10:30 tomorrow morning, so we will check him in for pre-op at 9:00AM. The surgery is about 30 minutes long and then he will be in recovery for 45 minutes to an hour. I expect us to be home by 1:30 or so. I will be sure to post an update when I can.

From The Magnolia State...
We have had a nice visit with my parents. It has gone by way too quickly since we will be hitting the road tomorrow to return to Texas. The house is quiet right now- everyone is enjoying a nice afternoon nap. I passed out for about 2 hours, which is unlike me. I am up now and not even their cats are stirring!
We were able to get out of Austin around 3:30 AM on Friday morning which allowed us to arrive in Hattiesburg at 1:30 PM. The trip was fairly uneventful (thank goodness) however, we did stop at my favorite travel breakfast spot... Cracker Barrel. YUM- there is nothing else like it! So, yesterday we enjoyed a relaxing dinner before getting into a HEATED game of Dominoes... Don't play something that gets in the way of my Mom's strategy! :o)
Today we went shopping at our favorite local bargain place- Hudson's. Its an interesting place... they basically buy out stores that are closing, have overstock or discontinued items. Sometimes you go and there isn't any thing exciting, other times you can haul out half the store! We found a few things like new outdoor door mats! Jason contemplated a walking cane in preparation for his surgery on Tuesday and I found some cute stationary. My Dad was thrilled when he went to the register to pay for his new car sun visor and it was only 33 cents!! The thrill of Hudson's...
In about an hour we are going to see "Get Smart" at the movie theater. Then we are taking my parents to dinner as an early birthday present for my Mom. It will be an early night for us since we face a 10-hour drive again tomorrow. I fear that half the nation will be doing the same drive home, so the traffic may be bad.
I hope that everyone's 4th was enjoyable. If you are traveling as we are, hopefully your return home is safe...

Tucker says, "Happy 4th of July!!"
July 4th is here already? Where did June go? Wow... We have been zooming along with a busy summer and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight!
Very early Friday morning we will hit the road towards Mississippi to see my parents for the long weekend. I have been missing them terribly and I know the feeling is mutual. I am excited to just see them! (I know there is Independence Day watermelon and homemade ice cream in our future too!)
When we return, Jason will have his knee surgery and then we go to Refugio for Carrie Koliba's wedding (Jason's cousin). We will get to see most of Jason's Koliba side so it is sure to be a fun weekend.
Since we will be traveling, I may not blog for a few days, so until the next time, I leave you with some super cute pictures of Tucker taken in the last couple of days...

Happy Birthday Krissie!!!
I am sorry this is late! I feel like this week has flown by... I can't believe its Wednesday night already.
On Sunday, we met at Chez Zee, a fun Austin place that has a great Brunch (or "Cheesy" as Jason calls it). We had a nice ladies lunch celebrating Krissie's birthday! Yay! It was a great time of Bellini's, yummy food and good ol' girly laughter.

Friends of mine, Jamie and Sarah Burch (Jamie is Kara's brother) lost their dear Sadie today. She was a sweet dog they loved very, very much. It is a tough day for them...
I made me think of the day I had to decide to let Puck go. It rips your heart out. Making the decision that you will miss them terribly, but don't want them to suffer any more is the closest thing I have ever felt to parenthood.
For months I still felt like Puck was in our home- his presence stayed with us. Jason and I have laughed with our new kitties Zoe & Gypsy that some of the silly things they do, Puck must have told them about.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Sarah, Jamie and Sadie.
