Injuries is just one of the risks you run when your dog plays with other dogs all day long. As most of you know, I take Tucker and Cheyenne to work with me. Tucker sleeps under my desk all day and Cheyenne stays out in the dog area with my co-workers' dogs (about 5 - 7 of them).Earlier this week Cheyenne had a cut on her left hip. It really is a minor injury that didn't require a vet visit. We are used to patching up minor cuts and scrapes at work (and even have first aid items for that reason). Unfortunately, Cheyenne is doing what comes naturally to an animal- licking her wound! We couldn't get her to stop, so it won't begin healing. We tried wrapping it with an Ace bandage, but it would move when she walked. Despite having Neosporin on it, at any given chance, she would groom herself. So, she left us no choice... the collar.
She isn't very happy with us and it is hard to make her understand it is for the best. When we first put it on, she ran into everything and would look at us with the saddest eyes. It was hard to not laugh sometimes and other times, we just felt bad for her. She has had it on for a couple of days now and seems to have the hang of if, but she still run into things and tries to squeeze through doorways too soon. Last night she finally figured out how to lay her head down and sleep with it on.
Jason has always called her my "Shadow" because she follows me everywhere. While I knew this to be true, I honestly had no idea just how CLOSELY she follows. I have been hit in my shins SO MANY times. Poor thing.
Hopefully it will be off in a couple of days. The sore is looking much better. Until then, she will pout and run into things while we try to convince her we aren't torturing her!!

Poor thing!! You're such a good mom to make her do something hard that's for her own good :)
That was me, not Paige. Guess she used my PC ;)
