Black Friday...

On Friday, Brad and I joined the masses to score some early morning Black Friday deals. Yes, we braved the 30 degree weather and were at Wal-Mart at 4AM! Cheyenne was less than pleased when my alarm went off at 3:45. If she could speak, she would have said, "%*%^*&# Mom... you must be kidding me."

You may remember that I have done this for several years. To me, it is great fun and kicks off the holiday shopping season. The Wal-Mart in Boerne was very well organized and at 5AM, we got the items we went for and made it safely to checkout with only minimal bloodshed!

(Camera phone... not the best quality.)
I have such fun doing this. I love watching how serious people get with their maps of the store, strategies and team coverage. Every Wal-Mart I have been to has done this differently. The Boerne Wal-Mart chose to use what I call the "Manned Pallet" approach. In other words, they rolled out pallets of the special items all over the store and a Wal-Mart staff member manned each pallet and stood watch until 5AM. Then they back up and let the customer's fend for themselves!

After that, we hit The Home Depot and a quick drive through Starbucks and then McDonalds for breakfast. Satisfied with all that we had accomplished before 6AM, we went home and went back to bed for a few hours.

The rest of the day was very relaxing. Brad and I headed into San Antonio for lunch at one of my favorite places, Alamo Cafe. Then we did a little more Christmas shopping and went to see a movie. We saw "Love and Other Drugs". It wasn't horrible, but not that great either.

Later, we returned to Boerne and went to dinner with his parents. We went to Chili's which was perfect for Brad's mom, Dorothy. You see, we are big football fans but she is a huge basketball fan. The Spurs were playing the Mavericks, and they were playing the game in Chili's!
