Christmas came early this year! Well, at least it did in Boerne. Since we will be in Mississippi with my family for Christmas, we celebrated with Brad's family this past weekend. We loaded up the dogs and headed to Boerne and headed to his parents' house.
After getting the dogs situated (aka free to run in the country), we drove into San Antonio to Outback Steakhouse and met up with Brad's brother Doug, his wife, Gina and their daughter Irina. We enjoyed great family time and wonderful food. Irina even sat next to me and sang me a few Christmas songs!

After dinner we all headed to Brad's parents' house for presents. Irina reminded me of so many of the stories I have heard about me as a child. Since I was an only child and the only grandchild until I was 10, it was always my job to pass out the presents. Just as I had done at her age, she walked around to see what everyone else received and helped them open their boxes. (Somehow, even though I am 35, it is still my job with my family to pass out the gifts!! I guess that is something I will continue until I can pass it on to my kids!)
As we were doing the presents, I glanced over and noticed that the gift we had for brought for Brad's Mom was missing. It was small jewelry box so it could easily have been misplaced. The gift opening stopped and the search for the box began. We pulled out every single couch cushion, looked under every piece of furniture, checked under every pillow, went into close by rooms and even sifted through wrapping paper from previously opened gifts. All of these things were done at least 3 times by each of us!!! Nothing. It was so strange. We had all remembered seeing it at one point during the evening but now it was nowhere in sight. We decided to open the rest of the gifts and then continue our search. Finally, after about an hour, it was found in the room next to us. Each of us had been in there to look and no one had seen it. Brad's Dad was the one that finally found it... we still have no idea how it got in there!!
After all of the gifts had been opened and the earrings for Brad's Mom had been located, we visited for a bit and then said our goodbyes. We even said goodbye to the dogs. They would be staying in Boerne since we will be gone for Christmas. Our car felt so empty without them in the backseat... I missed them.
We would have stayed the night but we had to be up early the next morning for the next road trip of the weekend. We were headed to Dallas!
